Candidate: Rita Bertwell for Division 4 Councillor
Since moving to Priddis Greens, Alberta in 2013, I’ve continued to build a career as a self-employed senior accountant consulting for oil and gas corporations. As well, my husband and I own and operate a successful franchise business in Calgary. My professional background includes decades of generating and analyzing financial statements as there’s a story behind the numbers. As a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, I take accuracy in financial reporting seriously.
In 2016, I collaborated with the Director of Alberta Rural Utilities to address irregularities discovered in a water and services co-op — resulting in significant changes and cost savings for residents in my community.
Throughout the years, as a volunteer treasurer for Foothills High School Fine Arts Society, Priddis Community Association, and other not-for-profit organizations, I’ve gained firsthand experience and special training in bylaw interpretation, fiduciary responsibilities, governance, and regulatory compliance
If elected, I will ensure transparency, co-operation and responsiveness to all residents in Foothills County. I will provide practical solutions that truly benefit the well-being of our community. I guarantee rational decision-making to ensure your tax dollars are used wisely.
